Founder/President, Greener Golf

Parker Anderson is the founder and president of Greener Golf, a company dedicated to leading the golf industry toward a beyond sustainable future. Parker developed a deep appreciation for golf and the environment early on.

Education and Early Career: Parker attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned dual degrees in Business Economics and Environmental Studies. He worked as a golf professional at several world-class golf courses across the U.S. and managed a state junior golf program, all while playing professional golf himself.

Advanced Studies and Sustainability Focus: To further his commitment to sustainable golf course design, Parker pursued a master's degree in Landscape Architecture and a Master of Science in Sustainable Systems focusing on golf and the environment from the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability. His project, "Greener Golf: An Ecological, Behavioral, and Social Study of the University of Michigan Golf Courses," showcased his innovative approach.

Professional Experience: Parker has spent over ten years living his childhood dream as a golf course architect, working with Renaissance Golf Design and Tom Doak, contributing to renowned projects such as The Loop at Forest Dunes, Sedge Valley at Sand Valley Resort, Pinehurst No. 10, and Punta Brava Golf and Surf Club.

After his graduate studies, in 2015, Parker led the USGA-funded Science of the Green Initiative at the University of Minnesota, focusing on golf’s relationship to the environment. In 2019, he founded Greener Golf, which serves clients both nationally and internationally with sustainable golf solutions.

Personal Life: Parker enjoys spending time with his wife and family in Santa Barbara, gardening, cooking, hiking, and living an eco-friendly lifestyle. His work through Greener Golf continues to drive positive environmental change in the golf industry.

CADE SCHAFER

Research Analyst, Greener Golf

Cade Schafer is a dedicated Research Analyst at Greener Golf, where he combines his passion for sustainability with innovative solutions to enhance the environmental and social benefits that golf courses provide. Cade utilizes his knowledge and expertise in life cycle analyses, ecological principles, ecosystem assessments, and data analysis to help create comprehensive environmental profiles for golf courses. Through his work at Greener Golf, Cade helps transform golf courses into valuable, community-centered, green spaces, ultimately driving the industry towards a future that is beyond sustainable.

Prior to working at Greener Golf, Cade worked on the maintenance crew at the University of Michigan Golf Course as well as an Environmental Stewardship Coordinator at Radrick Farms Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Michigan. These experiences allowed him to work on courses designed by some of golf’s greatest architects, Alister MacKenzie and Pete Dye, which has helped him develop a profound passion for sustainable golf course design and management.

Cade holds a master’s degree in Ecosystem Science and Management (MS) from the University of Michigan where he focused on analyzing the economic, social, and ecological benefits of implementing multifunctional pollinator habitats on golf courses. Prior to this, Cade earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan where he specialized in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation.
